Did you know DKOS offers services tailored to sports teams?
Foot and leg injuries are one the most common reasons for sidelining athletes and preventing them from participating in their sport. Ankle sprains, turf toe, plantar fasciitis and runner’s knee are only a few of the injuries that can plague athletes.
What does the program look like?
The DKOS team program is centred around combining a Sports Pedorthist’s expertise in biomechanics, gait/running analysis, orthotic fabrication, shoe modifications and sports/athletics with the expertise of the existing coaches and staff on your team.
A Sports Pedorthist is able to assess injured athletes and provide treatment options in the form of custom orthotics, over-the-counter orthotics (OTC), running analysis and footwear modifications/education, to name a few.
How it works
The model can be set up in a variety of ways to help your team. A more comprehensive model includes a foot and ankle screening of all athletes, the Sports Pedorthist present at practices and games, and onsite check ups. Teams can also take advantage of a simple model, where DKOS becomes a preferred provider and athletes see us at one of our clinics.
DKOS has successfully implemented this model with a variety of groups and teams, including the Hamilton Tiger-Cats of the CFL and McMaster University and their varsity programs.
Drew Korzeniowski of DKOS is a lifelong athlete, who understands what it takes to keep athletes on the field. One of our favourite mottos at DKOS is “treatment for athletes by athletes”. With 10+ years of experience in the field of Pedorthics, Drew works with athletes, ranging from recreational to professional, and many sporting groups in the Hamilton and surrounding area.
